I'll think of something if the response is good enough for the meet up to go ahead!

This will be my first meet up and first time at the Octave8 bar. I'm hoping this suggestion will help to keep the meetup alive and to meet some of the other members. It's on a Friday night so we can meet beforehand for a drink if anyone fancies.

I don't know anything about the Joe Stilgoe Trio but Octave8 describe them as 'Witty, divinely talented singer pianist'. More information can be found here. I'm new to the blues/jazz scene myself so I'm looking forward to getting out there and seeing some good artists and venues - as well as meeting some great people through the meet up of course.

Octave8 is located at 27-29 Endell Street Covent Garden London WC2H 9BA so it's a good location to get to. If there's enough interest in this event then I'll send an update as to where to meet and at what time. In order to book a table I'll need to know the estimated number of people and whether people want to eat. Take a look at their website for menus.
Cheers,

Hugh.

Had a great time and enjoyed meeting you all. I agree that this was more of a drinks/social venue than to listen to the music but the evening was great and I'm looking forward to the next one. I also think 'Old Macdonald' stretched even the 'Kylie rendition'!! Thanks to everyone for coming and making it a success

Big "shout out" - as the kidz say - to Hugh for picking the venue and organising the meetup. Everyone had a great time I think, and we'll look to make sure these happen more frequently.

An excellent response so we are still on for this Fridayl. I have an area reserved for us all from 7pm at the Octave bar for drinks. People can order food individually if they want. See you all there!

Well done Hugh for getting another meetup off the ground. I hope members will come along and that, if it proves successful, we together can get a good mix of meetups and gigs going!!

Who attended?

    •  They seemed fine. Where we were it was more focused on chatting than listening to the jazz.
    •  Really enjoyed the evening and met a great bunch of people.
    •  Noisy place and the music was background so hard to hear
    •  Joe Stilgoe Trio, swing pop jazz was rather bland ,acoustic unbalanced and faded in the background, which may have reflected the venue which was more of bar than a setting to enjoy music. The band
    •  The group was nice but the venue not ideal to listen to them, although the venue was great to meet people and have a drink. I really enjoyed meeting you all and share our interests for jazz. Hope to see you all soon. Take care and have a nice week end
