This group is here because 1) I love jazz and 2) the music is always better in person because you can feel how much the musicians become absorbed into the music. But whenever I ask my friends to check out a live jazz concert or show the answer is always lukewarm at best. It can't be that the 30 and under group is just not into jazz because I know there are so many young musicians in jazz bands all over the Bay Area. So here's a chance for all young jazz lovers to gather and check out all the gre …

This is a group to collect/connect jazz musicians, jazz listeners/lovers, and dance lovers at a place where all these things are possible. Currently many clubs featuring great jazz don't have much space for dancing--strange because the fun of moving to music is so natural! However, at most rock etc dance clubs the music is at bio hazard volume levels. Our JJ&D events feature dance-friendly space & creative music at an enjoyable level great for your all-over health! Dancing--all types, beats, etc. …
Do you love contemporary, funk, and smooth jazz performers like Grover Washington Jr, Rick Braun, Richard Eliot, Jeff Golub, Wayman Tisdale, Chieli Minucci, Brian Culbertson, Euge Groove, Dave Koz, Chuck Loeb, Eric Darius, Keiko Matsui, Marc Antoine, Acoustic Alchemy, Chuck Mangione, Marcus Miller, and Spyro Gyra? Then you’ve come to the right place! This is a jazz category that isn’t well represented in the Bay Area. I’m forming this Meetup group so that jazz fans like us can get together an …
Meet other local fans of jazz & blues music, and see new jazz & blues musicians before they get famous! The Bay Area is home to an amazing live jazz scene, with hundreds of small venues that provide an intimate and affordable way to experience jazz as it's meant to be: spontaneous, inventive, and alive. We can't all afford to go to Yoshis and Masonic Auditorium every weekend, but there's so much jazz happening in the Bay Area that there is something for every taste and every pocketbook, every …

Seeking anyone who enjoys making music with their mouth like Bobby McFerrin. Do you sing, whistle, or beat box? Actual instruments are NOT needed, but skilled musicians are still welcome. I hope to unite a mix of interesting people and styles for a recording and performance project. Most beat box is like rap or pop beats, so maybe we can take it to a new level with big band classics or jazz standards. I would value any feedback so we can get this group started. Thank you ~Gino Jazz

There are so many groups out there for "women only" - do guys do that sort of thing? Well, we do! This is a group for guys that love live music (or occasional movies) and want to go with a good group of guys, and hit up some food beforehand. I started this group because I do this all the time with individual friends, and would like do this with a handful of friends. I love going up to SF and seeing some interesting band that I've never heard of. They might be great or they might suck, and either …
I have one ultimate question for you ladies: What turns you on in your life? What gets you jazzed? What inspires you? What fills your heart with joy? What makes you sit at the edge of your seat? Ultimately who do you want to be in the world? What is your purpose on the planet? Are you living a turned-on life? Would it be okay if your gravestone read: “She was an exceptionally mediocre woman”? If your eulogy went something like: “She followed every rule with precision. She rarely made a …
Zoom In Videomakers is a collaborative group of volunteer videographers who are jazzed about local community access to the media. Our venue sponsor is the Midpeninsula Community Media Center in Palo Alto, California. They cablecast five (5) local channels on Comcast and U-verse and stream live from their website. The Media Center is actively looking for local video content to program on their channels and streams. One of this group's goals is to create just such local content about local …
We mainly explore the San Francisco Bay Area’s many hiking trails, but we also keep our eyes open for other outings such as free summer concerts (Stern Grove anyone?) and the occasional jazz club... and likely more. The hikes are 6-10 miles long and are of an advanced beginner to intermediate level of difficulty. Let’s go out and enjoy the many wonderful outings in the Bay Area!
